Cactus house plants are available in many weird and wonderful shapes, sizes, and colors. The Cactaceae family is native to southwestern U.S., Mexico, and South America. They are extremely well adapted to living in homes because they thrive in low to average humidity and room temperatures of 65-75 degrees. Although they need only modest amounts of water and fertilizer, abundant light is very important. They should be placed in a bright, sunny window for at least 2-3 hours a day and/or supplemented with artificial lighting.
Cacti are slow growing and will withstand tremendous abuse. They are a good choice if you are looking for a low maintenance plant. Provide bright light, well-drained pots, and little water.
